So you’ve tied the knot, and it’s time to shop for a Men’s Wedding Ring. This isn’t a task to take lightly. This is literally something you should be wearing for the rest of your life. Yes, that long! You’ll be soon saying something like, “Until death do us part”. So with that in mind let’s go over some of the important features of one of the greatest development of rings in history –  Tungsten Carbide Wedding Rings.

Tungsten Carbide Wedding Rings are an incredible addition to men’s selections when it comes to wedding bands. They are stylish, comfortable and strong. There was a time when Gold might be the only thing that came to mind when we were talking wedding rings. I know 10 plus years ago most guys did wear simple, gold rings on their fingers. But it’s much different today. And Tungsten brings with it a tremendous selection of styles and looks that never existed before.

How would you like a ring that you could never destroy, scratch or damage? This ring fits that bill. It’s one of the hardest materials available for jewelry. It’s almost as hard as a diamond. This makes it virtually indestructible. And it also is one of the reasons it maintains its shine for a long time. Tungsten Carbide Wedding Rings look like new years later with little maintenance – perfect for most guys.

The only drawback with Tungsten Carbide Wedding Rings being so hard is that it can’t be resized if your hand should change over the years. However, many places may offer a guarantee that if that day should come you could have it replaced. Make sure to look into that.

At the same time this is a very beautiful and affordable option. One would think that it being so strong and keeping its shine longer than any other metal that it might cost as much as a diamond. But it doesn’t. In fact, most can be purchased for only a few hundred dollars; less than a $100 for basic styles.

It can get pricier if you get fancier with them. Even though you can just get a basic design and even though they are so hard, they can be engraved, there are different ways they can produce the metal, they can embed gold and even diamonds. So there is a style and option for every taste.

Lastly, there is an option to even get a black version – Black-Plated Tungsten Carbide. This is something you’d never think of right? Black rings are something so new and fresh in the ring market. And they are really just stunning and really, really sharp looking. Most guys wouldn’t think of showing off their jewelry. However, in this case, they might!

So bearing all that in mind, the job of choosing a ring shouldn’t be too tough when you go with the toughest, most comfortable ring on the market today, Tungsten Carbide Wedding Rings.

If you are getting married soon and want to buy a wedding ring that is as elegant as gold and platinum, but do not have the budget for expensive rings; what is your alternative to expensive wedding rings without sacrificing quality? The answer is tungsten wedding bands, which are wedding rings made from the most durable metal used in the jewelry industry today, tungsten carbide.

Tungsten carbide wedding bands have a slightly grayish metallic hue that men love. Its polish stays flawless for years and years, unlike gold, platinum or even titanium. How can a metal that with so many advantages cost so much less? This is because the raw materials used to make tungsten wedding bands are not at all time high prices, like gold is, for example. The value of jewelry is based on the cost of the metal used to make the ring and the cost of labor that is required to make the ring. In the case of tungsten rings, the cost is mainly the cost of craftsmanship. Be careful not to purchase tungsten rings that are priced too cheaply (usually less than $100.00) because this is usually an indication of low quality.

Tungsten carbide wedding bands have the same or even superior features of traditional metals used for wedding rings. As stated earlier, they possess the qualities of being very hard, durable and resistant to dents and scratches. You do not have to worry about allergic reactions if you have sensitive skin because tungsten carbide is hypoallergenic, just like platinum. White Gold on the other hand, is not hypoallergenic because it contains a high amount of nickel. Also, tungsten also does not lose its color like white gold does after a short time of wear.

Tungsten Wedding Bands: Important Features

The most important feature of tungsten carbide wedding bands is the permanent polished look of the rings. A tungsten carbide ring never needs to be re-polished, even years or decades after you own it, which means you never have to spend any money on re-polishing of your ring, as is the case with precious metal rings. To provide additional peace of mind and value to our customers, Larson Jewelers offers a lifetime guarantee on all tungsten rings we carry. This means if anything should happen to the ring, whether it is your fault or not, we will replace it free of charge. Even if your finger size changes during the course of your lifetime, we will replace your ring with a new size. While some other retailers do provide a lifetime warranty, they do not provide a free lifetime warranty. This shows a lack of confidence in the rings that they carry.

The superior features of the tungsten carbide wedding bands mean that you do not have to take them off if you engage in sports, manual labor, or other activities that could damage rings made of traditional metals, which you have to take off to prevent any damage. Rest assured you can enjoy your favorite physical activities and wear it to work without worrying about any noticeable damage to your carbide wedding ring.

These days, people are looking for elegance, affordability and durability when shopping for a wedding band. In other words, value is what people are looking for in a wedding band. Tungsten wedding bands offer exactly that. This is why in only a few short years, tungsten wedding rings have become one of the most popular types of wedding rings on the market today.

If you have been in the market for an alternative metal wedding ring because you wanted something that is ultimately strong, maintenance free, fairly inexpensive, and have been considering one made from Tungsten Carbide, you must read this article first! There are some very important things that you should consider before making your purchase. Like the love and commitment between you and your spouse, your wedding band should last a lifetime. For this reason, Tungsten Carbide may not be the best choice for your wedding jewelry.

The claims that Tungsten Carbide manufacturers make about their jewelry are not entirely true and have been disproven by various strength tests. When the metal was first released onto the jewelry scene, the dealers claimed that it was indestructible and would maintain a permanent polish. They say that Tungsten Carbide makes the most wear-resistant wedding band on Earth. Sure, Tungsten Carbine rings can remain very shiny throughout their lifetime, but what good is a high polished wedding band that has a large chip or crack?

Not the Most Wear-Resistant on Earth:

Wedding rings are worn on a daily basis and receive a lot of wear and tear. While it is near impossible to scratch a Tungsten Carbide wedding ring, it can actually chip or break fairly easily. If your Tungsten Carbide wedding ring falls to a hard floor, such as one made from stone, it is very likely to shatter into pieces. This is because Tungsten Carbide is not a metal alloy, but the blend of Tungsten and Carbide powders. This creates microscopic voids within the wedding ring and weakens the product.

Impossible to Repair:

Another drawback is that Tungsten Carbide rings cannot be resized or repaired. You will wear your wedding band for a very long time, and it is very likely that your finger size may change. While most Tungsten Carbide wedding ring retailers promise to replace your ring if any damage occurs, or if your finger shrinks or grows and you need an alternate size, you will actually be receiving a brand new ring, and not the meaningful piece of jewelry that your spouse placed on your finger the day of your wedding.

This is where softer precious metals would be a better choice. Sure, they can scratch or knick easily, but they actually last longer. While wedding rings made of precious metals such as gold, silver, and platinum need regular polishing, they can be repaired and easily resized, and thus there is no need to completely replace one.

Other Metals to Consider:

Stainless Steel:

Stainless steel wedding bands are very strong and more resistant to scratching than gold, silver, or platinum. They are one of the least expensive options available on the market, and because the use of the metal for wedding rings is a contemporary trend, there are many fashionable styles of stainless steel rings available.

Titanium:

Titanium is one of the strongest metals available for wedding rings, is 100% hypoallergenic, light in weight, and can be engraved. Titanium wedding bands can also be easily adjusted to fit or repaired if damaged, and like stainless steel, they are less expensive and come in a myriad of design options.

Argentium:

Silversmith Peter Johns created this revolutionary metal in the 1990s. This contemporary silver alloy is a combination of sterling silver, copper, and germanium; the germanium increases the metal’s strength and tarnish resistance. Argentium silver is twice as hard as traditional silver, much less labor intensive to produce, and maintains a lasting finish. Argentium silver is being used in everything from wedding rings to works of art, and even musical instruments.

Before considering Tungsten Carbide wedding rings, consider one of these other metal types. You will be able to safely wear your ring made out of any of these alternative metals on a daily basis and not have to worry about your wedding band cracking or chipping

So I got my wedding ring 2 years ago. They told me I was a size 12 I think it was. This was using the loop with all the different sizes. I have a tungsten carbide ring so it’s wider than the usual ones. Well the thing fits very loosely, especially in winter when your hands are cold. Summer it seems snug enough that it is comfortable.
Is there anything I can do besides going and turning it in for another size. I’d have to pay because it is part of the package I got. Tungsten can’t be resized so I’d have to get a whole new ring. Something I’m not crazy about. Always had said I would keep this one because of the sentimental value and then get a whole new one that fit right. But that isn’t happening anytime soon because of $.

Probably should have taken it back when I first got it, but it wasn’t as bad as it is now. Not sure if I should just leave it be and be careful I don’t loose it or what. They pretty much messed up I’d say if it fits like this.
I wonder if I could have had them order 2 sizes(tungsten can’t be sized and I didn’t have anything custom done to it, so not like it couldn’t just be returned) and seen which real ring fit best.
I may be stuck with it how it is and just need to deal with it in winter. Since tungsten won’t break if it ever did get hung up on anything I’d probably lose my finger. Thankfully I don’t wear it when I’m working. And I’d wonder if getting a size down would be worth it.

Wish there was some way to add thickness to my finger, but besides eating McDonalds daily and getting chubby fingers, I’m not sure of anything I could do. I also don’t think that using one of those plastic things would feel comfortable either. Plus I don’t think a guy would wear that.

Looking at wedding rings just cause and well I’ll be welding and moving metal a lot for probably the net 40-50 years of my life. I’m going into welding as my carrer and well i want a ring that’ll handle the abuse and wont break, bend etc unless under extreme pressure.
I kinda figured I wouldn’t be able to wear it but its just in case i forget too. I heard that tungsten carbide rings are very hard to resize. Cobalt I heard is also very durable. But the kind of breaking I’m talking about is working on something and somehow missing what I’m hitting with a hammer and nailing my finger and ring. Gold would deform. But i heard that the tungsten carbide is actually not that brittle.

I mean color-wise. Does it ever rust or erode, and if so, how long does it take for this to happen? I just bought my fiance’s wedding band and it’s a Triton tungsten carbide ring. I chose this because I’ve read it’s very heavy, nearly completely resistant to scratches and very durable. I’m wondering if it ever rusts or starts to fade or lose its color though.. can’t seem to find out any information on the long-term effects. I guess if it does start to erode, the plus side to this is that it’s much cheaper than gold or platinum, so it’d be easy to replace. Should he take it off when showering? Any specific things that you SHOULD NOT do with tungsten? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.
